Originally a petticoat but now a full and swishy, slippery satin skirt.

Ankle-length, butterscotch beige satin petticoat skirt is very full and has wide cotton lace at the hem. Four lace flowers have been added to the front. It's very full and is gathered to elastic at the waist.  Fabric is rayon satin. The original waist has been altered and the lace is possibly a later addition. It's a homemade garment, so no labels. 1940s-1950s.

Condition

Fairly good, has some alterations from the original. The lace may have been attached later by another owner. Being a petticoat, the original waist had a drawstring through a casing. This was badly frayed, and I couldn't get a new casing to draw up without being damaged by the stress, so I had to stitch the elastic onto the skirt, which is a little bulkier but keeps the skirt up without putting stress on the fabric. I also added the four lace flowers on the front to cover some holes. There are a few tiny holes and a couple of light marks, all hidden in the fullness of the skirt.
